Pastor Henry Givens is founding and senior Pastor of Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina, located in Hardeeville, SC. Pastor Givens accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at a young age, while he was in middle school; and he sensed the call to ministry while he was in high school. He has served as senior pastor since the first Sunday in April 2011.
Pastor Givens grew up on a farm, in Green Pond, South Carolina, which is a very rural farming community that is located in the southeast region of the State. After graduating from the local county public high school, Pastor Givens later enrolled in college at Morgan State University, in Baltimore, Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in biology/pre-medicine and late a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance. In addition to his studies at Morgan State University, Pastor Givens did graduate studies at Oral Roberts University in the Master of Divinity Program. He, also, earned an Associate’s Degree in Christian Ministry from More Than Conquerors College in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he graduated with highest honors.
Pastor Givens has had a long-term career in banking and finance, which included several positions with management responsibility. In addition, he has been an adjunct college professor at major universities, where he taught finance courses on the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Along with a successful career in banking, Pastor Givens, also, has several years of management experience in the food and beverage / hospitality industry. In addition, he and his wife have been successful entrepreneurs, having owned several restaurants and a TCBY franchise.
Pastor Givens is the youngest child of Sam and Bertha Givens. He and his wife, Patricia Ann, have been married since 1981. They have two adult daughters. Together, they live to serve the Lord and be used in His ministry.
