History
Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina (WGCC) was established under the leading of the Holy Spirit and through faith in and obedience to God’s word by Pastor Henry Givens.
Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina (WGCC) and Pastor Henry Givens are under the pastoral covering and in covenant relationship with Dr. Tony Evans, founder and Senior Pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship and The Urban Alternative, in Dallas, Texas.
Pastor Henry Givens, the founding pastor of Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina (WGCC), first sensed the call to ministry while in high school. That call to ministry remained with Pastor Givens and continued to deepen and intensify over the years. In the early 1990s, Pastor Givens openly began to accept and acknowledge his calling, and he began to explore avenues to prepare to fulfill the call.
Pastor Givens graduated with highest honors, with a degree in Christian ministry, from More Than Conquerors College School of Ministry in Charlotte, NC, as well as an Associate Certificate in Christian media productions. Pastor Givens has done graduate studies towards a Masters of Divinity Degree at Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa, OK. In addition, Pastor Givens has a Bachelor of Science (BS) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree in finance, from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. In addition to ministry, Pastor Givens has had a long-term professional career in commercial banking as a Senior Vice President, with nationwide management responsibility, for major global banks. Pastor Givens has demonstrated a commitment to teaching, having served for several years as an undergraduate as well as graduate-level adjunct professor of Financial Management and Corporate Finance courses at major universities.
While still enrolled in the School of Ministry at More Than Conquerors College in Charlotte, NC, Pastor Givens sensed the Holy Spirit leading him to relocate back to the “Lowcountry” region of South Carolina, to teach the uncompromised word of God and establish Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina (WGCC). Pastor Givens followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and relocated from Charlotte, NC to South Carolina, to establish WGCC. With the blessing and sanction of his then covering pastor, the late Pastor Robyn Gool of Victory Christian Center, in Charlotte, NC, Pastor Givens was licensed and ordained, and he then stepped out in faith, to assume his pastoral assignment. On the first Sunday in April 2011, Pastor Givens accepted his pastoral assignment in the City of Hardeeville, SC. In January 2012 Pastor Givens launched Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina (WGCC). Following the passing of Pastor Robyn Gool, WGGC went under the pastoral covering of Dr. Tony Evans and part of The Urban Alternative Kingdom Agenda Pastors, in June 2023. Dr. Evans is founder and Senior Pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, as well as founder and president of The Urban Alternative (TUA) and head of the Kingdom Agenda Pastors.
Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina (WGCC), is a non-denominational, independent word-of-faith church. Pastor Givens was ordained March 13, 2011, by the late Pastor Robyn Gool, former Pastor of Victory Christian Center in Charlotte, NC. Pastor Givens has served as pastor since the first Sunday in April 2011.
In October 2022 Pastor Givens became a member of Kingdom Agenda Pastors under Dr. Anthony (Tony) Evans. Dr. Evans welcomed Pastor Givens and WGCC as a church in covenant relationship, under his pastoral covering.

Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina is an independent, “word-of-faith” church. Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina acknowledges that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church universal. Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina is governed by its bylaws and its Pastor, under the leading of the Holy Spirit.
